Cold Pack Short Course Overall 2021

HISTORY:  in 1993 when the Lanikai Cold Pack Classic was formed, there were only a handful of OC-1s around, with Kanaka Ikaika Racing Series dominated by Surfskis. Because of this shortage of canoes, the men and women had to race separately. It only allowed OC-1s because we were trying to build the sport and get everyone (all the ski paddlers) to try OC-1. It was also created to signify the start of training for the following year, as it used to be the first race post Molokai Hoe, held in November. Nobody was allowed to train between the Molokai Hoe and the Cold Pack Classic.  But more than anything it was a good excuse to have a great party! Although now OC-1 have dwarfed the other crafts in numbers, the Cold Pack Classic is still recognized as an OC-1 event, however, we allow all other paddle crafts to participate as we encourage paddling of all sorts.
