KIRA Summer Series #2

Saturday and Sunday August 08 and 09
Hawaii Kai to Kaimana – Saturday. 8.5 miles
&
Makai Pier to Kaimana – Sunday.  16 miles

  • Divisions:  OC-1, OC-2, Surfski, SS-2, SUP, Prone paddleboard, V-1.
  • There will be a team competition within the race for OC-1s.  Teams of 4 racing simultaneously.  Add points from each member’s placing.
  • Male, female, mixed and age groups.
  • How the team event will take place:
    • Teams for Saturday from Hawaii Kai:
      • All female teams (Open; Juniors 16 and 18 and under; 40; 50 and 60+)
      • Junior boys 16 and under, and men 60 and over
      • Mixed open and junior 18 and under
    • Teams for Sunday from Makai Pier:
      • Open men, junior men 18 and under, 40s and 50s men
      • Mixed open
  • Sign up individually for either/or both days, but you must write in your team name where prompted if you are part of a team.  You will have an individual rank as usual, but you will also be earning points for your team.  1 point for 1st , 2 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd and 4 for 4th. Time will determine a tie breaker.

  • Limit is 100 paddlers per race per day.
  • Registration closes Thursday August 06 at midnight, or when the first 100 paddlers have registered.   Know your 2020 race number and include it on the registration form.  If you don’t have a 2020 number, we’ll give you one at check in. The 2020 number is Teal blue on white and has the KIRA logo, some sponsor logos and says 2020.
  • Cost is $25.00 per entry inclusive of processing fees.  $12.00 for juniors.
  • If you do not have ACA annual insurance, you have to purchase the event liability insurance for $5.00 and sign the attached waiver: https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/e/MrqFypSzeEjQDJohn9RdsR/
    the online waiver and $5.00 payment is good for both races.  If you are already an ACA member you do not have to sign the waiver nor pay the $5.00.
  • There will be multiple check in times with paddlers grouped alphabetically. After registration closes there will be an email to all registered paddlers with important race information.  There will not be a briefing before the race so watch for emails.
  • Race check in is at Hawaii Kai on Saturday August 08 and Makai Pier on Sunday August 09.  Check in waves will start at 8:15 a.m. and will be in half hour increments.
  • Everyone must wear a mask at check in and must practice social distancing.
  • If you are sick and/or have a fever do not come. Your entry fee will be refunded.

AFTER THE RACE.   There will be take away lunch from Kona Brew Pub.  Everyone will also be given a coupon to the Kona Brew Pub for a discount towards a take away meal.

EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO CLEAN UP AND IMMEDIATELY GO HOME.  Results will be posted on Facebook and Instagram in the evening.

Race may cancel at any time prior to the event due to the status of COVID-19.
