Scott Hawaii Gold Challenge

There are 2 parts to the SCOTT HAWAII Challenge:

Part 1 – SCOTT Hawaii Gold Challenge (Individual):

A $50.00 American eagle gold coin (1 ounce of solid gold) will be awarded to the single most consistent paddler in his/her division of any craft, short or long course.  There must be 5 entries per division to qualify and paddlers can drop 1 of 7 qualifying races, which are race numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8.

  1. Points will be awarded on a race to race basis based on the number of entrants in a division. If there are not 5 individuals in a division, in a given week, individuals will be grouped and ranked with the next younger division.
    1. For example: If in week 1 there are 3 women in the 40 – 49 OC-1 division, they will be ranked with the 30 – 39 OC-1 category and assigned points accordingly.
      1. If in a following race (i.e., week 2) there are 5 women in the 40 – 49 OC-1 division, they will be remain in that division and ranked accordingly for that week.
  2. Rankings will be updated each week.
  3. Multiple crafts are eligible, you don’t need to race the same craft week to week to qualify.
  4. Race #8 is a REQUIRED race and cannot be dropped from your overall point total.
  5. If there is a tie going into the State race, the tie breaker will be the time margin of victory over the next individual – craft, gender, division specific.
    1. The race director reserves the right to establish additional tie breakers if all stated tie breakers have been exhausted.
  6. Must race the same course all season (i.e., long or short)
    1. Exceptions:
      1. If you race all 7 races long and one short, you can drop the short course results to qualify;
      2. Prone and standup are short course only.
  7. Single occupant crafts only; SS2’s and OC-2’s are not eligible.

Part 2 – SCOTT Hawaii Team Gold Challenge:
